The Power of One

Today, as I sat fixed in front of my flat screen, watching with the world, Oprah Winfrey's part 1 show finally, I along with millions of viewers was able to witness the power of one person.  Because my children ask a zillion  questions in a matter of a minute, I was constantly trying to explain who Oprah is and what the big deal was all about.  As I continued to watch a piece of television history, it reminded me once again the importance and value on EVERY human life.  I love Oprah's story; literally born into rags and self-made to riches.  A road marred with childhood abuse, bumps and bruises bared for a world to judge and see.  Although I certainly don’t' agree with everything Oprah espouses, I genuinely admire her ability to dream and demonstrate what it means to love and spread that love on a global scale.

Last year at a Women of Faith Conference, I had the privilege of listing to Andy Andrews speak.  A New York Times bestselling author, he left me captivated and in awe with his ability to convey the importance of every human life.  Word after word he eloquently wove life stories together, leaving the audience guessing how his story would end.  The Butterfly Effect is an amazing story Andrews' writes; a must have for every child’s bookshelf!

What do Oprah and Andy Andrews have in common?  They both leave me questioning what impact my life has made.  They both had me in tears as I watched and listened to the relevance, the smallest simple act that can send a ripple of waves, profoundly impacting others lives in ways we may never know.  I matter.  YOU matter!

Ask yourself, what you have done today to positively impact someone’s life.  Tonight I had a blast cheering on nine 4 and 5 year olds!  They were rock stars as they hit the ball and rounded the bases!  Who knows, maybe the next Derrick Jeter got his start this year on my Yankees T-ball team! Each one of us, no matter how big or small can make a life changing, ever lasting impact on the world.  When you start to think of the power of one life, it really is
amazing!

This video Shine by The David Crowder Band is INCREDIBLE!  Take a minute and watch it....and yes it was made from thousands of light bright lights.
